The Chelsea 281GMFJP-H5XD is a 281 Series hydraulic PowerShift (hot shift) Power Take-Off built for automatic transmissions with a 10-bolt aperture, including Allison and Caterpillar applications. The 281 Series carries a continuous torque rating of 390 lb-ft and is rated for continuous-duty operation. It mounts to 10-bolt aperture transmissions and is an evolution of the proven 280 Series platform, incorporating a ductile iron bearing cap that is 117% stronger than the gray iron predecessor, an o-ring sealing configuration between housing and bearing cap, and an 80% thicker steel clutch pack disc set for extended service life. Typical markets include fire and rescue, refuse, truck cranes, and pumper-cleaner applications. Available from Pro Gear and Transmission.

Additional Information

The 281 Series is an evolution of the Chelsea 280 Series PTO. Series-level improvements address vibrational effects from modern engine designs and include a ductile iron bearing cap (117% stronger than gray iron), an o-ring sealing configuration for improved clamp load, and 80% thicker steel discs in the clutch pack. The 281 Series offers nine speed ratios including low and high-speed options, an optional SmartStart feature to reduce shock load at start-up, and an Electronic Overspeed Control (EOC) option to protect driven equipment. Wet spline lubrication provides 7 to 10 times greater shaft life compared to standard lubrication. Common markets include fire and rescue, refuse, truck cranes, and pumper-cleaner equipment.
