The Chelsea 281 Series Power Take-Off Assembly, part number 281GBFJP-G3RB or 281GBFJPG3RB, is a hydraulically shifted hot-shift PTO designed for automatic transmissions with a 10-bolt aperture, including Allison and Caterpillar units. The 281 Series builds on the proven 280 Series platform with a ductile iron bearing cap rated 117% stronger than gray iron, an O-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap to improve clamp load, and an enhanced clutch pack with 80% thicker steel discs to resist premature tooth wear. Nine speed ratios span both low and high ranges. Rotatable cast-iron flanges reduce pump clearance interference, and a Wet Spline Lubrication option delivers 7 to 10 times greater shaft life. The optional SmartStart feature reduces shock load at engagement, while Electronic Overspeed Control (EOC) protects connected driven equipment.
