Meritor E-5994 is a wheel stud sold as an 8 pack. Each stud is a headed type with a clipped head, plain serration and a right-hand M22 x 1.5 thread in grade 10.9, measuring 3 1/4 in. under the head with 2.19 in. of thread and a 0.983 in. body diameter. It is used with the E-5991 nut.
A wheel stud works like a stiff spring: tightening the nut stretches it slightly, and that tension clamps the wheel to the hub. Studs with galled or damaged threads, or any that have necked down from over-tightening, should be replaced. A genuine Meritor part from Pro Gear and Transmission.
