Bendix 107430 is a TP-5 tractor protection valve for the air brake system. Its job is to keep the tractor's brakes working when something goes wrong behind it: should the trailer line fail or the trailer break away, the valve stops the tractor from bleeding off its own air. On the tractor it normally rides on the frame or behind the cab, between the tractor air system and the trailer connections. With a trailer coupled and its supply valve open, it passes supply air to charge the trailer and opens the service line so brake applications reach the trailer.
