A dash valve of this type puts the trailer air supply control and the tractor parking control in one body that the driver works from the cab. It protects the tractor's air brakes: when trailer supply pressure falls, the supply knob pops out so a broken trailer line does not drain the tractor. Setting the parking control also releases the trailer supply.
