The K096786 Bendix SAS-70X steering angle sensor reports the position of the steering wheel to the brake controller. Sensors of this kind feed the stability control system, which compares the steering signal against the yaw rate sensor.
When a steering angle sensor is faulty or out of calibration, the system can set stability fault codes, and the traction control or trailer ABS warning lamps may come on, often intermittently. A code showing the steering and yaw rate sensors disagreeing is a common sign.
