The K082740 Bendix spider and pin assembly is an air brake spider, a genuine Bendix part sold by Pro Gear and Transmission. On a drum brake the spider is the fixed anchor at the axle end that holds the brake shoes, the cam shaft bushings and the pins in position, so the whole brake stays aligned under load. When a spider wears or cracks, a bushing can loosen or a pin hole can stretch, and that shows up as uneven shoe wear, sloppy brake response and trouble at inspection.
