The Bendix 800828 spring brake is a genuine Bendix air brake component. A spring brake chamber does double duty: it applies the brake for normal service stops and also holds the vehicle with spring force for parking and emergency braking. If air pressure is lost, the spring section keeps the brake applied.
On a chamber of this type, a missing or damaged breather cap lets moisture and road grime in, which can corrode the main spring and weaken stopping and parking force.
