Bendix 283700N is an SV-1 synchro valve for heavy-duty truck air brake systems. It is a pilot-operated, on/off valve rather than a graduating one: it holds air back until control pressure reaches its set opening point, then passes supply air through, and it shuts again at its set closing pressure. Air brake systems use that behavior to delay or sequence other pneumatic devices so events happen in the right order.
