The Chelsea 489GHAHX-P5RE is an 8-bolt Power Take-Off unit from the Chelsea 489 Series, designed to mount directly to manual transmissions including Eaton Fuller, Eaton Endurant, Mack, and Tremec without an adapter plate. The one-piece cast iron housing bolts to the 8-bolt transmission opening, eliminating the adapter plate that can be a leak path on other designs. This unit uses pressure lubrication (denoted by the P designation) and a wire/cable mechanical shift. Output is through a 1-1/4" round keyed shaft. The 489 Series carries an intermittent torque rating of 201-300 lb-ft and shares internal parts with the Chelsea 442 Series. The Chelsea 489 Series was developed to combine the torque capacity of the 442 Series with a simplified one-piece cast iron housing that bolts directly to the 8-bolt transmission opening. Tapered bearings replace needle bearings for greater load-bearing capability. The series offers twenty-seven output options, including Chelsea's 360-degree rotatable flange with greaseable shaft, which reduces pump shaft spline fretting and corrosion. Eleven internal speed ratios are available across the series.
