The Chelsea 897LFFJW-M5XK is a constant-engagement Power Take-Off from the Chelsea 897 Series, engineered specifically for Allison 3000 and 4000 Series transmissions. The 897 Series moves the PTO pump mounting flange to the rear of the transmission, tucking the housing tightly against the transmission case and placing the pump output at the rear for improved clearance. Mounting is via a 10-bolt pattern with an SAE C outlet flange and SAE C output shaft. Wet Spline Technology is incorporated to extend PTO and pump shaft life under demanding duty cycles. The series delivers intermittent torque ratings above 501 lb-ft and output power above 56 HP, making it well suited for aerial trucks, fire and rescue trucks, refuse trucks, and truck cranes. A one-piece main shaft eliminates the input splines found on conventional PTO-plus-extension setups.

Additional Information

The 897 Series is built as a single integrated unit, not a PTO paired with a separate extension. Its one-piece main shaft removes the input splines between the PTO body and the output, which is a common wear point on multi-piece designs. The housing mounts like a standard side-mounted PTO but adds a support bracket at the rear of the transmission. This configuration is commonly specified for aerial trucks, fire and rescue apparatus, pumper cleaners, refuse trucks, and truck cranes where pump clearance and high continuous torque are priorities.
