The Chelsea 281 Series Power Take-Off, part number 281GBFJP-H5RF or 281GBFJPH5RF, is a hydraulically shifted hot-shift PTO designed for 10-bolt aperture automatic transmissions, most commonly Allison and Caterpillar units. The 281 Series builds on the proven 280 Series platform with a ductile iron bearing cap rated 117% stronger than gray iron, an O-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap for improved clamp load, and clutch pack steel discs that are 80% thicker to resist premature tooth wear. Nine speed ratios cover both low and high ranges. A wet spline lubrication option extends shaft life by 7 to 10 times. Electronic Overspeed Control (EOC) protects driven equipment, and the optional SmartStart feature reduces shock load at engagement. Rotatable cast-iron flanges reduce pump clearance interference, and the positive stop for driveline outputs eliminates oil seal damage from coupling contact.
