The Chelsea 281 Series Power Take-Off, part number 281GBKVP-B8RK or 281GBKVPB8RK, is a hydraulically shifted hot-shift PTO designed for automatic transmissions with a 10-bolt aperture, including Allison and Caterpillar transmissions. An evolution of the 280 Series, the 281 features a ductile iron bearing cap rated 117% stronger than gray iron, an O-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap for improved clamp load, and an enhanced clutch pack with steel discs 80% thicker than the previous design to resist premature tooth wear. Rotatable cast-iron flanges reduce interference issues, and a Positive Stop for driveline outputs eliminates oil seal damage from coupling. Nine speed ratios cover both low and high-speed demands. Electronic Overspeed Control (EOC) and an optional Wet Spline Lubrication package, delivering 7 to 10 times greater shaft life, round out a spec sheet built for fire and rescue, refuse, truck crane, and pumper cleaner applications.
