The Chelsea 281GDFJP-D5RY is a PowerShift (hydraulic) hot-shift power take-off assembly from the Chelsea 281 Series, designed for 10-bolt aperture automatic transmissions commonly used with Allison applications. The 281 Series is an evolution of the 280 Series platform, featuring a ductile iron bearing cap rated 117% stronger than the gray iron predecessor, an o-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap for improved clamp load, and clutch pack steel discs increased 80% in thickness to resist premature wear. Continuous torque for the series is 390 lb-ft. Output options across the series include SAE B and SAE C pump flanges, ISO 7652 pump flange, and driveline. Applications span fire and rescue, refuse, truck cranes, and pumper/cleaner trucks. Call us to confirm the exact output configuration and gear ratio for your specific chassis before ordering.

Additional Information

The Chelsea 281 Series builds on the proven 280 Series design with targeted upgrades aimed at handling the vibrational demands of modern engine platforms. Nine speed ratios are available across the series, including both low- and high-speed configurations. The optional SmartStart feature reduces shock load at engagement, and the Electronic Overspeed Control (EOC) option protects driven equipment from overspeed damage. Wet spline lubrication, when specified, provides 7 to 10 times greater output shaft service life compared to a dry spline arrangement. Rotatable cast iron flanges allow pump clearance to be adjusted at installation.
