The Chelsea 281 Series Power Take-Off Assembly, part number 281GDFJP-E5RB or 281GDFJPE5RB, is a hydraulically shifted hot-shift PTO designed for automatic transmissions with a 10-bolt aperture, including Allison and Caterpillar applications. The 281 Series is an evolution of the 280 Series, adding a ductile iron bearing cap rated 117% stronger than gray iron and an O-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap to reduce vibrational effects from modern engine designs. The clutch pack uses steel discs 80% thicker than the previous generation to resist premature tooth wear. The series supports nine speed ratios covering low and high range, with a continuous torque rating of 390 lb-ft (529 Nm). Output options include SAE B and SAE C pump flanges, ISO and DIN flange configurations, and driveline outputs with a positive-stop feature that eliminates oil seal damage at coupling.
