The Chelsea 281 Series Power Take-Off, part number 281GDFJP-G5RS or 281GDFJPG5RS, is a hydraulically shifted (PowerShift) PTO built for automatic transmissions with a 10-bolt aperture, including Allison applications. It is an evolution of the 280 Series, carrying forward the same hot-shift design with a series of structural upgrades. The ductile iron bearing cap is 117% stronger than gray iron, and steel discs in the clutch pack are 80% thicker to resist premature tooth wear. An O-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap improves clamp load and resists the vibrational effects of modern engine designs. The 281 Series carries a single, continuous duty torque rating and supports nine speed ratios covering both low and high speeds. Electronic Overspeed Control (EOC) is included for equipment protection, and an optional Wet Spline Lubrication configuration provides 7 to 10 times greater shaft life. Rotatable cast-iron flanges reduce pump clearance interference, and the Positive Stop for driveline outputs eliminates oil seal damage from coupling.
