R187-03A or R18703A is an Eaton Detroit Locker differential for the Ford 9 inch rear axle with 31 spline axle shafts. It is a locking design with a 9 in. ring gear size and a 1.32 in. axle shaft diameter, listed for circle track applications and every ring gear ratio except 2.72. As an automatic locker it sends torque to both axle shafts at once, so a tire that loses grip or leaves the ground does not stop the other one from pulling, and it lets the wheels run at different speeds on its own when the vehicle needs it.
