The 131039 Eaton differential spider is the cross-shaped shaft that sits inside the differential case of Dana R170/S170 differentials. The small bevel pinion gears ride on its arms and engage the axle gears on each side, so that in a turn one axle shaft can run faster than its partner. Because the spider carries those pinion gears under constant load, wear on its arms or dirty lubricant can spread damage through the rest of the gear set. It is normally dealt with when the carrier is opened up and the gear set is inspected. Sold each by Pro Gear and Transmission. Call us to confirm fit for your axle.
