Midland Haldex 107796 is an AD-9 air dryer cartridge. The cartridge holds desiccant that pulls water vapor out of the compressed air and traps oil vapor before the air reaches the tanks. On each cycle the dryer sends stored dry air back through the cartridge to carry the collected moisture out the exhaust, which renews the desiccant.
Desiccant does wear out. Water or oil when the wet tank is drained, frozen lines in cold weather, or tanks that are slow to build air point to a tired cartridge. A genuine Midland Haldex part from Pro Gear and Transmission.
