Midland Haldex 3049186X is an SS296 Super Single Cylinder air brake compressor rated at 13.2 cubic feet per minute. It is a Cummins standard case design with a square flange mount, engine drive and water cooling. The air inlet is on the left, the air outlet is at the rear, and the unloader port is left, direct, with port orientation viewed from the rear. Installation gaskets are included.
This compressor builds the air supply that the service, emergency and trailer brakes draw on. Because the engine lubricates and cools it, a failing unit can pass oil or coolant into the air system. Heavy oil carryover can point to worn rings, and extra noise can point to a loose or worn drive gear.
