Permatex 01010 5th wheel lube is a heavy-duty grease for the 5th wheel top plate, sold by Pro Gear and Transmission. It is made to cut friction and wear where the trailer rides on the plate, to help guard against corrosion, and to keep working in harsh weather and under heavy loads.
A plate that runs short on grease shows it in how the rig steers and in faster wear where the kingpin meets the jaws, so regular greasing matters, more so if you swap trailers often. Too much grease causes trouble just as too little does. It comes as a single pouch that goes on without tools and without the mess.
