Wabco 4008644000 is a PABS ECU, catalog name E4C 12, a genuine Wabco electronic control unit. This kind of module acts as the brain of the anti-lock braking system: it watches the wheel-speed sensors and commands the valves that adjust brake pressure so the wheels keep turning under hard braking. A failing unit can show up as an ABS lamp that stays on after the sensors, tone rings and wiring check out, or as no communication at the diagnostic port even with good power and ground.
