The Chelsea 281GCFJP-K5XV is a 281 Series Power Take-Off built for automatic transmissions with a 10-bolt aperture, including Allison applications. It uses a hydraulic PowerShift (hot shift) engagement, allowing the PTO to be engaged and disengaged without stopping the vehicle. The 281 Series is rated for continuous-duty operation and delivers 74 HP at 1,000 RPM. This series features a ductile iron bearing cap, an o-ring seal between the housing and bearing cap, and an 80% thicker clutch pack steel disc stack compared to the predecessor 280 Series. The 281 Series is an evolution of the Chelsea 280 Series PTO, incorporating three key structural improvements: a ductile iron bearing cap rated 117% stronger than the gray iron cap on its predecessor; an o-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap to reduce vibrational effects and improve clamp load; and an 80% increase in steel disc thickness within the clutch pack to resist premature tooth wear. Nine speed ratios are available across the series, including low- and high-speed options. The series also supports a Wet Spline lubrication option for extended shaft life and includes SmartStart to reduce shock load at engagement. Electronic Overspeed Control (EOC) is available to protect driven equipment. Common markets for this series include fire and rescue, refuse, truck cranes, and pumper/cleaner applications.
