The 281 Series is rated for continuous-duty operation with a series continuous torque characteristic of 390 lb-ft (529 Nm). It mounts to 10-bolt transmission apertures and supports multiple output configurations including SAE B and SAE C pump flanges, ISO 7652 flanges, and driveline outputs. The 281 Series evolved from the Chelsea 280 Series, adding a ductile iron bearing cap rated 117% stronger than gray iron, an o-ring seal between the housing and bearing cap, and an 80% thicker clutch-pack steel disc stack for extended service life in demanding cycles.
