The Chelsea 281GGFJP-G5XV is a 281 Series Power Take-Off built for automatic transmissions with a 10-bolt aperture, including Allison applications. It uses hydraulic PowerShift engagement, making it a hot shift unit suited for continuous-duty operation. The 281 Series is an evolution of the 280 Series, featuring a ductile iron bearing cap rated 117% stronger than the gray iron predecessor, an o-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap, and an 80% increase in clutch pack steel disc thickness. The series carries a continuous torque rating of 390 lb-ft and supports output configurations including SAE B and SAE C pump flanges, ISO 7652 pump flange, and driveline outputs. A genuine Chelsea part sold by Pro Gear and Transmission.

Additional Information

The 281 Series is an evolution of the Chelsea 280 Series PTO and addresses vibrational stress caused by modern engine designs. Key structural upgrades include a ductile iron bearing cap, an improved o-ring sealing configuration, and a reinforced clutch pack. Available markets include fire and rescue, refuse, pumper cleaner, and truck crane applications. The series supports nine speed ratios and includes an optional SmartStart feature to reduce shock load at engagement, as well as Electronic Overspeed Control (EOC) to protect driven equipment. Rotatable cast iron flanges allow for improved pump clearance positioning. A wet spline lubrication option is available and provides 7 to 10 times greater shaft life compared to standard configurations.
