The one-piece cast iron housing bolts directly to the transmission, eliminating the adapter plate and reducing potential leak paths. The 489 Series delivers 201-300 lb-ft intermittent torque and 46-55 HP output, with tapered bearings replacing needle bearings for greater load-bearing capacity.
