Chelsea 870 Series and Muncie CS10 / CS11 (10-bolt Allison)
These pairs come from Bezares' correspondence table: the Chelsea 870 unit and every Muncie unit listed beside it map to the same Bezares unit. The CS11 is the CS10 with a remote solenoid. Where one Chelsea number lists several Muncie numbers, most differ only in their last characters. On the Chelsea 870 B and C ratio rows, Bezares also groups two Muncie gear ratios (A1006 and A1007) under one unit, so match the PTO speed your application needs as well. Where the two codes differ
- Gear ratio. Chelsea prints a gear set (F is 21/37 teeth). Muncie prints a PTO speed ratio (06 is .613:1). The two numbers are not the same measurement, so use the chart instead of converting one into the other.
- Assembly arrangement. Chelsea numbers its arrangements 3 to 6, Muncie numbers its arrangements 1 to 4.
- Transmission gear. A Muncie TG number names the transmission gear it meshes with (U68, U60, F63, M65). A Chelsea number carries an input gear designator instead (AH, ES, JW, DA).
- Shifter and output. Both put these near the end: Chelsea A is air shift, V is air shift without the installation kit and W is cable; Muncie A is 12 volt manual air, P is manual air without the installation kit and C is cable.
How to identify your PTO
- Read the ID tag. The model number is on the tag fastened to the PTO housing. Type it into the box above to find its match.
- Count the bolts. A 6-bolt opening takes a Chelsea 442 or a Muncie TG6; an 8-bolt opening takes a Chelsea 489 or a Muncie TG8.
- Check the shifter. A cable to the cab, an air line, or an electric over air solenoid. The match has to use the same type unless you change the controls too.
- Check the output. A round keyed shaft drives a driveshaft to a remote pump; a pump flange (SAE A, B or BB) carries the pump on the PTO. The pump has to bolt up to the new unit.
- Note the transmission. Make, model and serial number. The PTO input gear has to mesh with the transmission's PTO gear.
