The Chelsea 489 Series Power Take-Off, part number 489GHAHX-P3AF or 489GHAHXP3AF, is a mechanical-shift PTO built for manual transmissions with an 8-bolt mounting aperture, including Eaton Fuller, Eaton Endurant, Mack, and Tremec. The one-piece cast iron housing bolts directly to the 8-bolt opening, eliminating the need for an adapter plate and reducing potential leak paths compared to adapter-style installations. The 489 Series uses tapered roller bearings rather than needle bearings for greater load-bearing capability. Intermittent torque rating for the 489 Series is 201-300 lb-ft. The Chelsea 489 Series is suited for utility trucks, dump trucks and trailers, snow and ice removal equipment, and fire and rescue vehicles. The 489 Series shares internal components with the Chelsea 442 Series, making parts support and field service straightforward for shops already familiar with that platform. Twenty-seven output configurations are available within the 489 Series family, including a 360-degree rotatable flange with greaseable shaft to reduce pump shaft spline fretting and corrosion.
