The Chelsea 897HAFJW-M5DA or 897HAFJWM5DA is a constant-mesh power take-off from the Chelsea 897 Series, engineered to fit Allison 3000 and 4000 Series transmissions. The 10-bolt mounting design relocates the PTO pump flange to the rear of the transmission, tucking the housing tightly against the transmission body to improve clearance between the pump and the frame rail. The output shaft is SAE C with wet spline technology, which extends service life on the PTO and pump shaft in demanding duty cycles. The one-piece main shaft eliminates input splines between the PTO and output extension. Common applications for the 897 Series include aerial trucks, fire and rescue vehicles, refuse trucks, and truck cranes. Call us to confirm proper fit for your specific transmission configuration.

Additional Information
The Chelsea 897 Series was developed specifically to address pump clearance challenges on the Allison 3000 and 4000 platform. Unlike a standard side-mounted PTO with a separate output extension, the 897 is a single-unit design. The pump interface is positioned at the rear of the transmission, allowing the gear section to sit close to the transmission housing while still providing adequate working space for large hydraulic pumps. This geometry makes the 897 Series well suited for aerial work trucks, fire and rescue pumpers, snow and ice equipment, and refuse vehicles where both high torque and tight installation envelopes are required. The 897 Series can be ordered to accommodate transmissions equipped with or without a cooler, a retarder, or both.
