The Chelsea 281 Series Power Take-Off (part number 281GCFJS-D5AC or 281GCFJSD5AC) is a hydraulically shifted, hot-shift PTO designed for automatic transmissions with a 10-bolt aperture, including Allison and Caterpillar transmissions. An evolution of the 280 Series, the 281 carries a continuous torque rating of 390 lb-ft (529 Nm) and delivers output power starting at 56 HP. Nine speed ratios cover both low and high ranges. The ductile iron bearing cap is 117% stronger than gray iron, and the clutch pack uses steel discs 80% thicker than the previous design to resist premature wear. Rotatable cast-iron flanges reduce interference clearance issues, and an O-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap improves clamp load and reduces vibrational effects.
