The Chelsea 281 Series Power Take-Off Assembly, part number 281GKFJP-G3SV or 281GKFJPG3SV, is a hydraulically shifted hot-shift PTO designed for automatic transmissions with a 10-bolt aperture, including Allison and Caterpillar applications. An evolution of the 280 Series, the 281 brings a ductile iron bearing cap rated 117% stronger than gray iron, an o-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap to improve clamp load, and an 80% thicker clutch pack to resist premature tooth wear. Nine speed ratios cover both low- and high-speed demands. The wet spline lubrication option extends shaft life by 7 to 10 times. SmartStart reduces shock load at engagement, and Electronic Overspeed Control (EOC) protects driven equipment. Common markets include fire and rescue, refuse, truck cranes, and pumper-cleaner trucks.
