The Chelsea 281 Series Power Take-Off (PTO) Assembly, part number 281GTFJP-D8XV or 281GTFJPD8XV, is a hydraulically shifted hot-shift PTO designed for automatic transmissions with a 10-bolt aperture, including Allison and Caterpillar units. It delivers a single continuous duty torque rating and offers nine speed ratios covering both low and high ranges. The cast-iron flanges are rotatable to reduce interference clearance issues, and the ductile iron bearing cap is 117% stronger than gray iron. An o-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap improves clamp load and reduces vibrational effects from modern engine designs. The clutch pack features steel disks 80% thicker than the predecessor 280 Series to resist premature tooth wear. Wet Spline Lubrication provides 7 to 10 times greater shaft life, and the SmartStart feature reduces shock load at start-up. Electronic Overspeed Control (EOC) protects driven equipment.
