The Chelsea 897HAFJW-M5XY or 897HAFJWM5XY is a constant-mesh Power Take-Off assembly built for Allison 3000 and 4000 Series transmissions. It mounts with a 10-bolt pattern and uses an SAE C outlet flange with a wet-spline output shaft, which reduces wear on both the PTO and the connected pump shaft in high-demand service. The one-piece main shaft eliminates the input splines found in PTO-plus-extension designs. By locating the pump interface at the rear of the transmission, the 897 Series tucks the housing and gear section tightly to the transmission, creating clearance where space is limited. Continuous-duty torque reaches 670 lb-ft; intermittent torque is rated above 501 lb-ft. Common applications include aerial trucks, fire and rescue apparatus, snow and ice equipment, and truck cranes.
