Eaton Fuller A-6609 or A6609 synchronizer assembly, listed in the factory parts list as Synchronizer Assy 4/5 in the Mainshaft Assy group, item 4, one per assembly. Our parts manuals carry it for the FS-4205A, FS-4205B, FS-4205C, FS-5205A, FS-5205B and FS-5205C.
The synchronizer works like a small clutch inside the gearbox: it brings the gear and the shaft to the same speed so the sleeve can lock the gear in without clash.
