The Meritor E-9644 or E9644 is a Mega Plus repair kit for 16.50-inch Q-type steer axle drum brakes. It covers brake widths of 5.00 in. and 6.00 in., and is built for use with relocated return spring shoes and Q Plus camshafts. The kit also fits Hammer Claw camshaft applications. FMSI numbers 4514Q and 4524Q apply. Stainless steel bushings are included, along with a Posi-Plus roller. One installation requirement: the return spring must be installed with the end hook open toward the camshaft head. This kit crosses to a wide range of numbers including Dayton/Batco 08108850, 08111600, and 08111630, Dana/Spicer 81A and HK81XLS, Haldex CQ66887, Leland K292 and K334, Meritor KIT8081 and R508053, and Sirco MF1 and MF2.
