Fabco TC-38 specifications
- Ranges: high and underdrive, air shifted. High-neutral-underdrive versions add the neutral shift parts Fabco requires when a PTO is fitted.
- Front drive: air-operated declutch with an indicator switch that turns on a pilot light when front drive is engaged.
- Shafts: input, intermediate, front output and rear output, each running on tapered roller bearings.
- Speedometer: built for either a mechanically driven or an electronic speedometer, depending on the part number.
- Oil capacity: approximately 7 quarts, filled to the bottom of the oil level hole.
- Oil changes: first change within 5,000 miles, then every 10,000 to 15,000 miles unless operating conditions call for a shorter interval.
- Recommended oil (on highway): heavy-duty engine oil meeting MIL-L-21048, SAE 50 above 10°F or SAE 30 below; or mineral gear oil, SAE 90 above 10°F or SAE 80 below.
- Shifting: front drive can be engaged at any speed as long as the rear wheels are not spinning. Shift between high and low range only with the truck stopped.
