The Chelsea 281GDFJR-D5RY is a PowerShift (hydraulically shifted) hot-shift power take-off built on the 281 Series platform, designed for automatic transmissions with a 10-bolt aperture, including Allison transmissions. The 281 Series delivers continuous-duty operation with a series-rated continuous torque of 390 lb-ft, and output options spanning SAE B and SAE C pump flanges, ISO 7652 pump flange, and driveline configurations. The enhanced clutch pack uses steel discs 80% thicker than the predecessor 280 Series, and the ductile iron bearing cap is 117% stronger than the gray iron design it replaces. An o-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap improves clamp load and reduces vibrational stress from modern engine designs. Available from Pro Gear and Transmission.

Additional Information
The 281 Series is an evolution of the Chelsea 280 Series PTO and targets demanding duty cycles in fire and rescue, refuse, truck crane, and pumper-cleaner applications. Nine speed ratios are available within the series, including both low- and high-speed options. The SmartStart feature reduces shock load at startup for applicable configurations, and the Electronic Overspeed Control (EOC) option protects driven equipment from overspeed damage. A wet spline lubrication option is available and is reported to provide 7 to 10 times greater shaft life. Rotatable cast iron flanges improve pump clearance during installation.
