The one-piece cast iron housing bolts directly to the 8-bolt aperture, eliminating the need for an adapter plate and reducing potential leak paths compared to two-piece designs. Shift type for this series is wire/cable mechanical. The 489 Series delivers intermittent torque in the 201-300 lb-ft range and intermittent output power of 46-55 HP, with tapered bearings providing greater load capacity than needle-bearing designs.
