The Chelsea 489 Series Power Take-Off, part number 489XFITX-A3XX or 489XFITXA3XX, is a mechanical-shift PTO designed for manual transmissions with an 8-bolt mounting aperture, including Eaton Fuller, Mack, and Tremec. The one-piece cast iron housing bolts directly to the 8-bolt opening, eliminating the need for an adapter plate and reducing potential leak paths. Shift is wire/cable mechanical. The 489 Series delivers intermittent torque in the 201-300 lb-ft range and shaft power of 24 HP at 500 RPM or 48 HP at 1,000 RPM. Output is via a 1-1/4-inch round keyed shaft. Tapered bearings replace needle bearings for greater load capacity. Common applications include utility trucks, dump trucks, snow and ice removal equipment, and fire and rescue vehicles.
