The Chelsea 897HCFJW-M5ZS or 897HCFJWM5ZS is a constant-mesh power take-off from the Chelsea 897 Series, designed specifically for Allison 3000 and 4000 Series transmissions. The 897 Series relocates the PTO pump mounting flange to the rear of the transmission, tucking the housing and gear section tightly against the trans to improve clearance between the pump and the frame rail. It mounts via a 10-bolt pattern and uses an SAE C outlet flange with an SAE C output shaft. The one-piece main shaft eliminates the input splines found in PTO-plus-extension designs. The Chelsea 897 Series is engineered as a single-unit PTO, not a PTO with a bolt-on extension. The housing and gear section mount tightly to the transmission side while the pump interface extends to the rear of the transmission, creating space between the pump and the frame rail that standard side-mounted PTOs cannot provide. An additional bracket at the rear of the transmission provides structural support. The 897 Series accommodates transmissions equipped with or without a cooler, a retarder, or both.
