The Chelsea 897LAFJW-M5ZS or 897LAFJWM5ZS is a constant-engagement power take-off from the Chelsea 897 Series, engineered specifically for Allison 3000 and 4000 Series transmissions. It mounts via a 10-bolt pattern and positions the SAE C output flange at the rear of the transmission, moving the pump interface rearward to improve clearance between the pump and the frame rail. The wet spline output extends PTO and pump shaft life under demanding duty cycles. Unlike a PTO-plus-extension arrangement, the 897 Series uses a one-piece main shaft, eliminating input splines between the PTO body and the output. Typical applications include aerial trucks, fire and rescue trucks, refuse trucks, and truck cranes where pump space and sustained torque output are critical. The Chelsea 897 Series was designed to fit neatly between the transmission and the frame rail, locating the pump output rearward for adequate clearance. It can be ordered for transmissions equipped with or without a cooler, a retarder, or both. Wet Spline Technology at the output interface reduces wear on both the PTO and the mating pump shaft in high-cycle or high-torque applications.
