The Chelsea 897 Series was developed for applications where pump clearance and high torque output are both critical. Because the entire pump interface relocates to the rear of the transmission, the gear housing tucks tight to the transmission body, leaving more space between the pump and the frame rail. This makes the 897 Series a practical fit for aerial trucks, fire and rescue apparatus, snow and ice equipment, refuse trucks, and truck cranes where side-mounted PTOs cannot provide adequate clearance or torque capacity. The 897 Series is a self-contained single unit, not a PTO paired with a bolt-on extension, which simplifies installation and reduces potential leak points.
