The Chelsea 272XCAJX-P3XD or 272XCAJXP3XD is a 272 Series hot shift power take-off assembly built on a 6-bolt mounting pattern. The output shaft is a 1-1/4" round design with a 5/16" key. Shift is pneumatic (PowerShift pneumatic/hydraulic), and the series carries continuous torque ratings up to 300 lb-ft (407 Nm), with intermittent torque in the 201-300 lb-ft (401-500 Nm) range. At 500 RPM the shaft delivers 29 HP (21 kW); at 1,000 RPM output reaches 57 HP (43 kW). The 272 Series consolidates several earlier Chelsea medium-duty hot shift PTO lines and is commonly applied in aerial, construction, towing and recovery, and water truck service. The Chelsea 272 Series consolidates the earlier 230, 231, 236, 238, 270, and 271 medium-duty hot shift PTO lines into a single, more versatile platform. The series offers nine speed ratios and eighteen shift options. Direct-mount outputs are available with optional Wet-Spline technology for extended PTO and pump shaft life. Driveshaft outputs can be configured with the Smart-Start option to handle high-torque start-up conditions. Flanges are rotatable to aid installation.
