The Chelsea 281 Series Power Take-Off, part number 281GDFJP-G5RF or 281GDFJPG5RF, is a hydraulically shifted hot-shift PTO engineered for automatic transmissions with a 10-bolt aperture, including Allison and Caterpillar units. This series evolved from the widely used 280 Series with key structural upgrades: a ductile iron bearing cap rated 117% stronger than gray iron, an O-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap to improve clamp load, and an 80% increase in clutch-pack steel disc thickness to resist premature tooth wear. Nine speed ratios cover both low and high ranges, and the rotatable cast-iron pump flanges reduce interference fit issues. A Wet Spline Lubrication option extends shaft service life by 7 to 10 times compared to standard configurations. Electronic Overspeed Control (EOC) is included for driven-equipment protection.
