The Chelsea 281 Series Power Take-Off, part number 281GDFJW-B3RY or 281GDFJWB3RY, is a hydraulically shifted hot-shift PTO designed for automatic transmissions with a 10-bolt aperture, commonly found on Allison transmissions. An evolution of the Chelsea 280 Series, the 281 incorporates a ductile iron bearing cap rated 117% stronger than gray iron, an O-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap to improve clamp load, and steel clutch pack discs that are 80% thicker than the predecessor design. Nine speed ratios cover both low and high speed applications. The wet spline lubrication option extends shaft life by 7 to 10 times. Rotatable cast iron flanges reduce interference clearance issues, and the SmartStart feature reduces shock load at startup.
