The Chelsea 281 Series Power Take-Off, part number 281GDKVP-B3XD or 281GDKVPB3XD, is a hydraulically shifted hot-shift PTO engineered for automatic transmissions with a 10-bolt aperture, including Allison and Caterpillar transmissions. An evolution of the 280 Series, the 281 Series introduces a ductile iron bearing cap rated 117% stronger than gray iron and an O-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap to improve clamp load and reduce vibration-related wear. The clutch pack features 80% thicker steel disks to resist premature tooth wear. Nine speed ratios span low and high ranges, and the Wet Spline Lubrication option extends shaft life 7 to 10 times over standard configurations. Electronic Overspeed Control (EOC) protects driven equipment, and the SmartStart feature reduces shock load at engagement. Rotatable cast-iron flanges reduce clearance issues, and the Positive Stop for driveline outputs eliminates oil seal damage from coupling.
