The Chelsea 281GMFJR-D3XD or 281GMFJRD3XD is a hydraulically shifted, hot-shift power take-off from the Chelsea 281 Series, designed for automatic transmissions with a 10-bolt aperture including Allison and Caterpillar models. The 281 Series is an evolution of the 280 Series and carries a continuous torque rating of 390 lb-ft (529 Nm). Nine speed ratios cover both low and high-speed applications. The ductile iron bearing cap is 117% stronger than gray iron, and an o-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap improves clamp load and reduces vibration damage. The clutch pack uses steel discs 80% thicker than the prior generation to resist premature tooth wear. Rotatable cast-iron flanges reduce interference fitment issues, and the Positive Stop feature on driveline outputs prevents oil seal damage from coupling.
