The 281 Series builds on the proven 280 Series platform with a ductile iron bearing cap rated 117% stronger than gray iron, an o-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap to improve clamp load and resist vibration, and clutch pack steel discs increased 80% in thickness to resist premature tooth wear. Nine speed ratios cover both low and high-speed requirements. Rotatable cast-iron flanges reduce interference at the pump mount, and a positive stop for driveline outputs eliminates oil seal damage from coupling contact. The wet spline lubrication option delivers 7 to 10 times greater shaft life. SmartStart reduces shock load at engagement, and Electronic Overspeed Control (EOC) protects driven equipment.
