The Chelsea 281 Series Power Take-Off, part number 281GSFJS-D5AC or 281GSFJSD5AC, is a hydraulically shifted hot shift PTO engineered for automatic transmissions with a 10-bolt aperture, including Allison and Caterpillar units. An evolution of the 280 Series, the 281 brings a ductile iron bearing cap rated 117% stronger than gray iron, an o-ring sealing configuration for improved clamp load, and an 80% thicker clutch pack steel disc to resist premature tooth wear. Nine speed ratios cover both low and high ranges. Rotatable cast-iron flanges reduce interference clearance issues, and the Wet Spline Lubrication option extends shaft life by 7 to 10 times. Electronic Overspeed Control (EOC) protects driven equipment. Common markets include fire and rescue, refuse, truck cranes, and pumper cleaner applications.
