The one-piece cast iron housing eliminates the need for an adapter plate, reducing potential leak paths compared to bolted adapter designs. The 489 Series carries the same 250 lb-ft intermittent torque rating as the Chelsea 442 Series, and uses tapered bearings rather than needle bearings for increased load-bearing capacity. The output shaft is a 1-1/4" round with key, and this unit is pressure-lubricated (P designation). Shift is wire/cable mechanical. Shaft power output is 24 HP at 500 RPM and 48 HP at 1,000 RPM.
